Press Release: Shuttle introduces newest lineup of gaming PCs - 1337 and 1337 SDXi system

Aside from the sucky model name of 1337, the new SFF system is very nicely done. With a custom paint job, a watercooled GPU, with an extreme Intel processor (Conroe or Kentsfield), Ati Radeon X1950 (Crossfire), 2GB of yummy Crucial DDR2-800MHz RAM, on a small form factor, this is just so freakingly awesome. This little wonder will set you $4999 at the minimum though, so it does have a hefty price tag to go with the looks and power.

Shuttle introduces newest lineup of gaming PCs - 1337 and 1337 SDXi system

Shuttle Inc, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of small form factor computers and accessories have announced the launch of its newest lineup of gaming PCs—1337 and 1337 SDXi system. Shuttle 1337 systems bring together the best technologies the industry has to offer to make one blazing fast gaming system. 1337 systems are able to match performance of larger and louder tower systems without sacrificing the small form factor foot print.

According to Kevin Tu, Product Marketing Manager, “We made it our goal to extract the most performance from our existing XPCs without sacrificing portability for LAN parties. The Shuttle 1337 SDXi is the result, blending the best engineering we have to offer with the best technologies from Intel and ATI.”

The new Shuttle 1337 systems differ from the regular Shuttle XPC systems in form and function. Sporting a unique paint job and liquid-cooling system the Shuttle 1337 PCs deliver are truly unique in appearance. Every Shuttle 1337 system is painted with premium-grade glossy automotive paint by Smooth Creations for that customized touch. Paint jobs by Smooth Creations offer unmatched quality and craftsmanship. According to Smooth Creations PR representative Ashley Willis, “Quality is not expensive … it’s priceless!”

Liquid cooling is employed on 1337 systems to keep the graphics cards cool and quiet. Air-cooling can no longer cut it anymore with the increasing complexity of graphics cards. In the past users would have to install their own liquid-cooling system with fears of leaks. However, with Shuttle 1337 systems, you can have the cooling performance of liquid without the headaches previously associated with it. The liquid-cooling system employed in 1337 systems is completely self-contained, maintenance free and guaranteed not to leak.

Shuttle 1337 SDXi systems integrate the best technologies for blazing fast performance in games and applications. Powered by the Intel Core 2 Extreme Edition X6800 or QX6700 processor, 1337 SDXi systems deliver two and four cores of processing with seamless multitasking capabilities. Joining the Core 2 Extreme processor is a pair of AMD ATI Radeon X1950XT graphics cards in CrossFire. The pair of ATI Radeon X1950XT graphics cards delivers breathtaking visuals with outstanding performance.

System Specifications

Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 or QX6700
2x AMD ATI Radeon X1950 XTX CrossFire
2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Western Digital Raptor 150GB

Tech Link (MoDT): Shuttle XPC X100 (Core Duo)

A pretty nifty systems is up on the testbench over at HardwareZone. And since this is armed with an Intel® Core™ Duo processor (aka Yonah, aka new Apple* processor), you can expect great turn out of performance for such a system. This little baby packs a whooping performance per watt, very very very nice for office and productivity and even good for gaming too since it is armed with an ATi Mobility Radeon X1400. The only problem I can see with this baby is a measly 512MB RAM (2x256MB DDR2-533 SODIMM), but that can be remedied (but SODIMM is pricey) if you have the moolah. Give it a spin and expand this posting.

Ever since the PC started encroaching into the living room space with the convergence of digital media and broadband, we have all been waiting for its Holy Grail - that perfect blend of style and performance which acts as the indispensable hub of your home entertainment system. Parallel developments like Microsoft launching its Windows XP Media Center Edition and the rise of AMD to challenge Intel in the processor arena in terms of cheaper and cooler chips have helped to drive this trend.

Tech Link (MoDT): Shuttle X100 ultra-small media PC

When Chipzilla announced their latest products at CES, more and more exciting devices and appliance are being released. Most of these are geared for Digital Home and have very small footprint. One such device is the new Shuttle X100 ultra-small media PC*. Not only does it has great looks, but this small baby is packed with a very powerful Intel® Core™ Duo Processor. It's got great graphics because of ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 onboard graphics accelerator with DVI/TV out, and multi-channel digital audio with SPDIF.

So, what do you think? A removeable drive? No, it's the actual Shuttle X100 ultra-small media PC, a step into the future for sure and a definite indication of how a media PC could look when it finally makes the move into your living room.

The XPC X100 is around the size of a compact scanner. Equipped with Intel's latest Core Duo mobile processor, ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 onboard graphics accelerator with DVI/TV out and multi-channel digital audio with SPDIF, the XPC System X100 will certainly offer great performance. In addition, this preliminary specification also features a 250GB hard drive, 512MB of dual-channel DDR 2 SDRAM, Gigabit LAN, Wireless LAN, a four-in-one card reader, 4x USB ports and Firewire.

It might not be the most attractive of designs, but it's sure to catch the eye when it goes on display at the CeBIT show next month.

No release dates or prices are available from the company at present.

Tech Link (SFF): Silence of the Shuttle Pentium M lunch box

I am surpised at tINQ, by their lack of rumor, side comments, sarcasm, and almost professional way of delivering a quick look to the system. I am not sure if it is because of the Valentines season, but it's good to have read an article from their site that is just purely focused on the item rather than mix and matching rumors and facts.

Shuttle ships aluminium based case in silver but the review unit was white. I have to say that it looks sexy in white. It should have left it in white for consumers as well. Thanks to mighty Intel we managed to get a CPU for this test and the nice company supplied us with a Pentium M 760 clocked at 2 GHz. I have the same CPU in the laptop I use. The only exception is that the laptop uses FSB 400 based Pentium M at 2 GHz while the one we used for XPC test works at 533 FSB. As it is slim and lite notebook that indicates that the CPU is rather chill. We didn’t have any problems mounting this 479 pin CPU inside and we remember that you had to screw the CPU in as it is usually meant for transportable systems.
