Ultimately the Asus Arctic Square heatsink is a good lower noise thermal solution with the capability of handling higher heat loads from modern day multi-core processors, or for adequately cooling single core chips from either AMD or Intel. Its bulky shape may prevent it from being used with some motherboards that have large heatsinks mounted to the MOSFETs or northbridge, but otherwise the Asus Arctic Square heatsink is easily recommendable.

Thermalright HR-09 NEWS
As many hardware enthusiasts would know, there are three major heat sources from your computer system; CPU, north and south bridge chipset, and PWN-IC which is also known as MOSFET.
The increasing density of MOSFETs on an integrated circuit is creating problems of localized heat generation that can impair circuit operation. Circuits operate slower at high temperatures, and have reduced reliability and shorter lifetimes. MOSFETs are at risk of thermal runaway. As their on-state resistance rises with temperature, the power loss on the junction rises correspondingly, generating further heat resulting in destruction of the device.
For the above reasons, many motherboards now have their own heatpipe cooling system designed by the motherboard manufacturers. But during our research test, we found out that the northbridge chipset can run especially hot and when you increase voltage, the temperature increased many times over. The heatpipe cooling system just does not have enough surface area to cool those hot devices equally AND sufficiently.
Many end-users also have written to us in regards to the above issue. They got tired of gimmicks and low grade thermal solutions. What they needed was something real, something that actually cools the MOSFET, and so we went to work and developed a new product called HR-09 (from High-Riser series) MOSFET cooler.
The HR-09 MOSFET cooler with its patented design will expand your system’s life expectancy and creates a stable condition not only during normal operation but also when you increase the frequency and voltage to overclock. Now heat is no more an issue.
The HR-09 comes in two distinctive designs and types (sold separately); HR-09U and HR-09S. The difference lies in positioning and orientation of the fins and heatpipe. For HR-09U, which fits most major motherboards, sits upright. It is the choice when you have no obstacles to hinder the installation of HR-09U. As for HR-09S, which sits at a slant angle, would be the choice when you have a big CPU heatsink such as the SI-128 and have limited space on your motherboard. But whatever the choice you make between HR-09U and HR-09S, know that you have nothing but the best quality and performance…now working for your MOSFET.
Conclusion
Our today’s tests indicate that overclockers have got another very effective and very quiet air cooler. The Cooler Master GeminII is already selling at a price not much different from the recommended one.
There are only two drawbacks about the new product: no fans included into the package and its limited compatibility with mainboards for AMD processors. The former drawback can be solved easily, but the latter is more serious. I hope the manufacturer will perfect the Socket AM2/939 fastening in such a way that the cooler could be oriented on the CPU socket in the best possible position.
Big weight? It’s not a problem as the GeminII uses threaded fastening through the mainboard which just can be more reliable. The mainboard has to be taken out of the system case to install the cooler, but you have to do the same with every super-cooler, except for Scythe’s (but I should add that the GeminII lacks a back-plate for LGA775 and the mainboard bends under the pressure). Size? The cooler fits into the system case perfectly and does not press against the components around the CPU socket. It does not exhaust hot air outside, but its design just doesn’t imply that.
The rest are indisputable advantages. The GeminII is highly effective and very quiet. It cools the near-socket space on the mainboard. It is not more expensive than its opponents, even including the cost of two fans. And it is already available for purchase! Very good news!
Where could the GeminII progress further? I would suggest the following:
* Remove the top rigidity bars from the fan plate to reduce resistance to airflow
* To reduce the same resistance more, the top edge of the ribbing could be made serrated
* Include fans into the package by default, perhaps fans with speed adjustment up to 2500rpm (this would please an extreme overclocker, but would be useless for those who choose silence)
* Make the heat pipes the same diameter as in the Enzotech Ultra-X (and perhaps use fewer of them)
* Polish the base better
So, I think there is still some work Cooler Master’s engineers might do to make this super-cooler even better than it currently is.

Final Remarks
The Ultima-90 has delivered some note worthy results in the two weeks spent testing. The Ultima-90, in conjunction with an e6400 is outperforming a heatsink that dwarfs it in size - why? The answer could be in the heat pipe number combined with the large amount of fins. There are 6 heatpipe coolers such as the Scythe Ninja and 45+ fin coolers like the Tuniq. The performance differential between the Ultima-90 and Tuniq appears to come from combining the two. A 48 fin cooler with 6x6mm heatpipes seems very efficient at heat dissipation. Therein is the difference, never in my searching have a found a heatsink that so densely packs the two together. Distance between the base and the bottom fins may also come into play. Heat does not have to travel long on the Ultima-90 before it reaches the lowest fins. Lastly, the Ultima-90 heatpipes converge right at the beginning and travel the breadth of the base.
For the future, I look forward to more examples of employing 7-9mm heatpipe solutions as has been done on the Enzotech Ultra-X and Thermalright IFX-14.
At this point, I have to say the Ultima-90, once delivered, should be an outstanding high performance cooler at what will probably be a reasonable price.

Conclusive Thoughts
All in all the results of the Thermalright HR-07 are extremely good, this cooler really makes an additional fan to blow over your memory unnecessary, or alternatively, can make you cool your ram to new extends, for even higher overclock results.
The only real drawback of the cooler is the fact that the standard heat spreaders of your memory have to be removed before you can possibly install the HR-07. This not only voids the warranty of your memory, but is a hassle to do as well, and you seriously risk damaging your memory sticks when you're not careful.
Therefore I applaud Thermalright's efforts to bring the coolers to the memory manufacturers as an OEM part, as I think these coolers can certainly help to bring your memory to the next level. But then again, if you're into memory overclocking, or if you're a modding enthusiast and got some older ram without heat spreaders lying around, or if you don't mind taking them off, you should really have a look at the new Thermalright offering.
Price wise the new HR-07 can be had for around $25 (froogle), which is not very cheap as you'll need to buy two for dual channel operation. On the other hand, after market, simple heat spreaders used to cost $10-$15 as well, and a fan would set you back another $10.
In the end, here's my take on the Thermaltake HR-07 memory cooler:
+ Excellent passive cooling performance compared to standard solutions
+ Brings active cooling performance to the next level
+ An "extreme" look that should appeal to case modders
+ Easy installation (once you get the old HSP's off)
+ Excellent quality and finish
- Not very cheap (around $50 for dual channel kit)
- Possible clearance issues with large CPU coolers
- Risk of damaging and voiding warranty of your memory when removing the stock HSP

The Scythe SCINF-1000 is a huge cooler. Scythe themselves have a huge reputation to live up to. Will the Scythe Infinity match that reputation and perform well when used with a Conroe CPU? I take it to the test in the following review and see how it fares.
