Intel® Centrino® Pro Gives IT Managers Wireless Management and Security Capabilities
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 4, 2007 -- Under a new brand called Intel® Centrino® Pro processor technology, Intel Corporation today announced it will extend its innovative and popular features designed for desktop business PCs called Intel® vPro™ processor technology into its forthcoming high-performance laptop offering. IT departments will be able to reliably manage both desktops and notebooks and deal with what plagues them most – security threats, cost of ownership, resource allocation, and asset management -- and do so wirelessly.

With Intel Centrino Pro processor technology, IT managers will be able to manage and protect their notebooks over Wi-Fi. In addition, administrators can manage both wired notebooks and desktop PCs regardless of their power state or the health of the PC***. The result is better protected PCs, increased IT department compliance, more accurate PC inventories, fewer desk-side visits and less interruption to business.

Major Companies Already Deploying vPro

Businesses have quickly recognized the significant potential time and cost savings from the manageability features of Intel vPro processor technology, and are rapidly deploying the technology. More than 200 business deployments are underway worldwide, ranging from the thousands to tens of thousands of PCs per customer including 3M*, BMW*, FujiFilm*, ING*, Johns Hopkins*, Pioneer* and Verizon*. The latest versions offer higher performance while also delivering outstanding energy efficiency and battery life.

A new wireless component, Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N will give users more freedom to do more, farther away from their access points with support for the draft 802.11n specification delivering up to five times the performance** and twice the wireless range**. Users will also enjoy improved graphics performance and support for Microsoft Windows Vista's latest graphic interface Aero*. SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 24, 2006 – The way the world views and uses business PCs is about to change with the introduction of Intel Corporation’s new Intel® vPro™ technology, a revolutionary shift in desktop PC security and manageability along with remarkable energy-saving computing performance.

Businesses today are plagued by increasing economic and security threats such as malicious viruses, spyware and identity theft, while IT managers are driven to improve processes and customer service models. Intel vPro technology will offer businesses and IT a competitive edge with breakthrough innovations and technologies to help get the most out of resources and shrinking IT budgets.

Intel vPro technology also includes the second-generation of Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) and Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT). Intel VT will be integrated into the dual-core processor while the next-generation Intel AMT will be integrated into the new platform chipset. These hardware innovations, when combined with industry-enabled software solutions, represent the superior manageability and strengthened security behind the Intel vPro brand.
